The beauty of Poetry

The great thing about poetry
Is that it doesn't need to rhyme.
Well, Unless you want it to.
It doesn't need to make sense at all.
All that matters
Is what it means to you.
It doesn't need to have some great
Mystical, Underlying meaning.
But,
Wouldn't it be fun
To confound people with your poetry
Way off in the future
Where people think you wrote about
The war between Heaven and Hell
When
All you wrote about was sprinkles on a cupcake.
Or
The dirtiness of your shoelaces.

Another great thing about poetry
Is the fact that
You can interperate as whatever you want.
A simple poem
About a red balloon
Could mean the sociopolitical destination of the world, to you.
But,
To another it might mean
The spread of communism through out the eastern part of the world.
And to another
It means the innocence of a lost childhood.
Poetry is the true form of individualism.

Poetry can take so many forms.
Poetry can become lyrics to a song.
Poetry can become a friend you pour your deepest secrets into.
And depending on how you write it,
Few will find out your secrets.
Poetry can become a sanctuary
Where you find peace and sanity on a piece of paper.
Poetry can become an empty room
Where you can scream out your inner most feelings
And no one will be there to pass judgment.

The great thing about poetry
Is that it bends to your liking.
Haikus, cinquains, couplets.
Limericks, verse, sonnet.
Open, List, Narrative an alphabetical.
Anything.
Hey,
If you wanted to
You could make a type all your own
You are never limited in the world of poetry.
Poetry asks nothing from you.
Only that you have at least some form of rhythm.

The beauty of poetry
Is that it is you.
You.
Unrestrained
Untamed
Care free
Wonderful
Beautiful
You.
You are the creator
Of your own poetry-riffic world.
From the ink of your own pen
Flows a creation.
A creation you could share with the world
or keep hidden within the recesses of your diary.
A creation
That could bring smiles or tears or laughter.
That could bring thoughts or rage or fear.
That could bring two people together.
A creation that you control.
Every creation you make
Carries with it, a piece of yourself.

You see,
Poetry is a marvelous thing
Poetry gives you a voice
You thought you never had.
Poetry contains the beauties of the world
Or the horrors
On a couple pieces of parchment.
So, Go on!
Your world is waiting to be created!
Pick up that pen and a sheet of paper
And do the unthinkable
Write what you think
What you wish to say
With out anyone saying you cant!
For that is the beauty of Poetry.
